What is your nickname? If you have one?
People like to call me Sav

Where do you primarily ride?
I ride summit county most of the time. I spent some time riding in Oregon too

What made you start snowboarding?
My older brother got me into snowboarding. As well as the fear of doing to splits while skiing

What’s Favorite board to ride?
My favorite board to ride is the B-Pro from Gnu. It’s a sick stiff board that allows you to ride anything and everything

Favorite riding story if you have one?
I’ve been snowboarding for a very long time and have an endless supply of stories. I replayed many of them deciphering which one was my favorite and it would have to be the first time I landed a krippler in a 22 foot pipe. This was about two years ago and I was competing at a regional USASA. A little bit of a back story is that I learned kripplers in my hometown’s 18 foot pipe maybe a week prior. My coach had been pressuring me to at least try them and we agreed that if I landed my first run I should do it. I landed my first run and was in first place meaning that I had no choice but to try. When it came to my krippler I perfectly landed back into the pipe and won the event. Later that week I traveled to Mammoth and place 4th at a Rev Tour with the same run.

Why do you love to snowboard?
I love to snowboard because I love the spirit of snowboarding. It connects people on a different level. Everybody snowboarding should be snowboarding for the good vibes and how it makes you feel. To me, it has been the only place that allows me to creatively express myself without judgement and is where I have been rewarded by others. The positivity that snowboarders give each other is why I snowboard.

When you aren’t snowboarding what are you most likely finding yourself getting into?
When I am not snowboarding I am taking classes online to eventually become a radiology technician. I like to go to bed early in the winter so I can snowboard at my best everyday but in the summers you would find my friends and I getting into something. I love spending my summers outdoors either hiking or fishing. I work my butt off in the summers to pay for my snowboarding in the winters.

What is your favorite area on the mountain? Jumps, rails, natural terrain?
Depends on the day where my favorite place on the mountain is. Just being on the mountain is what I love.

Where do you see yourself in five years snowboarding wise? Traveling to another
country?
My entire life has been dedicated to snowboarding and I hope the rest of it will be too. Its really hard to say where I will be in fives years because I am still very young. In five years I hope to have a job in my degree and begin looking into giving back to the snowboard community because there has been so many programs and people that have given me amazing opportunities. Also, I’ll still be kicking butt with my own riding.

Do you have a pre-boarding ritual or something you need to have on you at all times on the mountain?

When I compete I have a shirt I always wear. It’s not always lucky but it is super soft. Then I have my comp song that I only play before my runs and it has been the song I use for three seasons now. Otherwise if I am just riding I like to sing along to my music.

Do you have a pre-boarding ritual or something you need to have on you at all times on the mountain?
Mu ultimate pre-boarding ritual is to make sure I’m fully set for the day and have every little thing I need. However, you will always find me with headphones on the mountain.
