Name?
Tj Kern

What is your nickname? If you have one?
Nothing has stuck so far, but if you have one for me hit me up @boardarchive

Where do you primarily ride?
The resorts around Summit County, CO primarily. Floating between Keystone, Breck, and Copper.

What made you start snowboarding?
I had some great family friends take me out to the hill for the first time when I was 10 and never looked back.

What’s your favorite board to ride?
Loaded question! But I am currently loving Bataleon Snowboards as my daily, particularly the Evil Twin.

Favorite riding story if you have one?
My first season in Colorado in 2014 I was out riding Keystone early season with one of my best friends. We had been riding all day and right at the end of the session, ski patrol dropped a rope to a run that hadn’t been opened yet. It was golden hour and that was my first legit powder run, I’ll never forget it!

Why do you love to snowboard?
So many reasons, but the connection it allows with the mountains as well as the skills you learn from overcoming mental obstacles as you progress are two that stand out.

When you aren’t snowboarding what are you most likely finding yourself getting into?
I love to travel any chance I get! Cliff jumping in the summer is also great, and I’m looking forward to getting into snowmobiling this season.

What is your favorite area on the mountain? Jumps, rails, natural terrain?
Jumps, rails, natural terrain? Coming from NC I’m a park rat at heart, but love to explore and find natural features when conditions are right.

Where do you see yourself in five years snowboarding wise?  Traveling to another country?
Year round winter! Traveling between North America, New Zealand/Australia, and Europe.

Do you have a pre-boarding ritual or something you need to have on you at all times on the mountain?
Stretching is critical, as well as having a properly tuned up board. I wear a face mask all the time, even for summer shred!
